Local Governments are the heart and soul of our communities. Councils and staff across the province are dedicated to ensuring that residents and businesses have the services, programs, and infrastructure that they need to thrive. Local leaders run because they care, and they want to make life better for everyone living in our towns and cities.
On October 2, 2025, municipalities in Newfoundland and Labrador will be holding their general elections, and, for the first time, so too will Local Service Districts.
This is your opportunity to be part of something important. You can lead in your community. This is a call to action, and we want you to run because there’s a place for you here in local government. Are you ready to Make Your Mark?
If your government doesn’t look like you even to a small extent, it’s hard for your issues and your voices to be brought to the table. The more people we have running for council or being more active in their municipalities the better community we’re able to build.
People bring so many different things from every different background, every different perspective, every different lived experience - that’s where representation at the table makes it stronger. If you have people with only one background, you’re not really going get those different perspectives, you’re not as strong as a team.
